Walter Camp
Walter Camp was an American football player, coach, and sports writer, often referred to as the "Father of American Football." Born on April 7, 1859, in New Britain, Connecticut, he played for Yale University and later became a coach there. Camp was instrumental in developing the rules of the game, including the introduction of the line of scrimmage and the concept of downs.
In addition to his contributions to football, Camp was a prominent figure in sports journalism. He served as the first editor of the Football Annual and was a key member of the American Football Rules Committee. His influence helped shape the modern game, making it more organized and popular.
