Walt Kowalski
Walt Kowalski is a fictional character from the 2008 film Gran Torino, directed by Clint Eastwood, who also plays the role of Walt. He is a retired auto worker and a Korean War veteran living in a changing neighborhood in Detroit. Walt is portrayed as a gruff, no-nonsense man with strong opinions and a deep sense of pride in his Ford Gran Torino car.
Throughout the film, Walt struggles with his prejudices and the loss of his wife. His character evolves as he forms an unlikely friendship with his Hmong neighbors, particularly a young man named Thao. This relationship challenges Walt's views and ultimately leads to significant personal growth.
