Walrosse
The Walrosse, or walrus, is a large marine mammal known for its distinctive tusks, whiskers, and blubbery body. They primarily inhabit the cold Arctic regions and are often found on ice floes or beaches. Walruses are social animals, typically living in groups called herds, and they feed mainly on benthic invertebrates like clams and mollusks.
Walruses have a thick layer of blubber that helps insulate them from the frigid waters. Their tusks, which are elongated canine teeth, serve various purposes, including helping them haul themselves onto ice and establishing dominance within their social groups. These fascinating creatures play a vital role in their ecosystem.
