Wake-on-LAN
Wake-on-LAN (WoL) is a technology that allows a computer to be turned on or awakened remotely over a network. This is achieved by sending a special network message called a "magic packet" to the target device. The computer's network interface card (NIC) listens for this packet even when the computer is powered off, enabling it to power up when needed.
WoL is commonly used in business environments for managing multiple computers efficiently. It helps IT administrators perform updates or maintenance tasks without needing to be physically present at each machine. This feature can also save energy by allowing computers to remain off when not in use.
