Wage and Hour Division
The Wage and Hour Division (WHD) is a part of the U.S. Department of Labor that ensures compliance with federal labor laws. It primarily focuses on enforcing the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), which sets standards for minimum wage, overtime pay, and child labor. The WHD helps protect workers' rights and ensures they receive fair compensation for their work.
In addition to the FLSA, the WHD oversees other regulations, such as the Davis-Bacon Act, which mandates prevailing wage rates for public works projects. The division also provides guidance and resources to both employers and employees to promote understanding of wage and hour laws.
