WELS
The Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod, or WELS, is a Christian denomination based in the United States. Founded in 1850, it emphasizes the teachings of the Bible and the Lutheran tradition. WELS is known for its commitment to the doctrine of justification by faith and operates numerous congregations, schools, and missions across the country and internationally.
WELS is part of the larger Lutheran tradition, which originated from the teachings of Martin Luther in the 16th century. The synod places a strong emphasis on education, providing resources for both spiritual growth and academic learning through its Lutheran schools and seminaries.
