W.A.C. Bennett Dam
The W.A.C. Bennett Dam is a large earth-fill dam located on the Peace River in British Columbia, Canada. Completed in 1967, it was named after W.A.C. Bennett, the province's premier from 1952 to 1972. The dam plays a crucial role in hydroelectric power generation, providing electricity to thousands of homes and businesses.
The dam creates the Williston Lake, one of the largest artificial lakes in North America. It helps manage water flow, supports irrigation, and contributes to flood control in the region. The W.A.C. Bennett Dam is an essential part of British Columbia's energy infrastructure and environmental management.
