Vultee Aircraft Company
The Vultee Aircraft Company was an American aircraft manufacturer founded in 1939 by Vernon M. Vultee. The company specialized in designing and producing military aircraft during World War II, including the well-known Vultee Vengeance dive bomber.
After the war, Vultee shifted focus to civilian aircraft but faced financial difficulties. In 1947, the company was acquired by Consolidated Vultee Aircraft Corporation, which later became part of General Dynamics. The Vultee name is remembered for its contributions to aviation during a pivotal time in history.
