Vulpes zerda
Vulpes zerda, commonly known as the fennec fox, is a small fox species native to the sandy deserts of North Africa. It is easily recognizable by its large ears, which help dissipate heat and enhance its hearing. The fennec fox has a sandy coat that provides excellent camouflage in its arid habitat.
These foxes are nocturnal, meaning they are most active at night. They primarily feed on insects, small mammals, and plants. Fennec foxes are social animals, often living in family groups, and they dig extensive burrows to escape the heat of the day and protect themselves from predators.
