Vulcan Statue
The Vulcan Statue is a large cast-iron statue located in Birmingham, Alabama. Standing at 56 feet tall, it represents the Roman god of fire and forge, Vulcan. The statue was created for the 1904 World's Fair in St. Louis and is the largest cast-iron statue in the world.
Vulcan is perched atop Red Mountain, overlooking the city. The statue symbolizes Birmingham's industrial heritage, particularly its iron and steel production. It was designed by sculptor Giuseppe Moretti and has become a significant landmark and cultural icon for the city.
