Volvox
Volvox is a type of green algae that forms spherical colonies, typically consisting of thousands of individual cells. These cells are connected by thin strands of cytoplasm, allowing them to communicate and coordinate their movements. Volvox is often found in freshwater ponds and pools, where it thrives in sunlight.
Each Volvox colony can be seen swimming in a coordinated manner, thanks to the flagella, which are whip-like structures that help propel the colony through the water. Volvox reproduces both sexually and asexually, producing new colonies that can eventually break away and grow independently.
