Volcanoes of Chile
Chile is home to some of the most active and impressive volcanoes in the world, located along the Andes mountain range. The country has over 2,000 volcanoes, with around 500 considered potentially active. Notable examples include Villarrica, known for its frequent eruptions, and Llaima, one of the most active volcanoes in South America.
The Chile-Argentina border features the Southern Volcanic Zone, where many of these volcanoes are situated. These geological formations are a result of the subduction of the Nazca Plate beneath the South American Plate, creating a unique landscape that attracts scientists and tourists alike.
