Voicing
Voicing refers to the use of vocal cords to produce sound in speech. When a sound is voiced, the vocal cords vibrate, creating a buzzing sound. For example, the sounds of b, d, and g are voiced, while their unvoiced counterparts, p, t, and k, do not involve vocal cord vibration.
In linguistics, voicing is an important feature that distinguishes between different sounds. It can affect the meaning of words; for instance, the difference between bat and pat lies in voicing. Understanding voicing helps in learning languages and improving pronunciation skills.
