Vlad II Dracul
Vlad II Dracul, born in 1395, was a ruler of Wallachia, a historical region in present-day Romania. He was a member of the Order of the Dragon, a chivalric order founded to defend Christianity in Eastern Europe. His nickname, "Dracul," means "the Dragon," reflecting his allegiance to this order. Vlad II ruled intermittently during the early 15th century and was known for his political maneuvering and efforts to strengthen his principality.
Vlad II's son, Vlad III, later became famous as Vlad the Impaler, known for his brutal methods of ruling. Vlad II's reign was marked by conflicts with the Ottoman Empire and rival factions within Wallachia. His legacy is often overshadowed by his son's notorious reputation, but Vlad II played a significant role in the region's history.
