Vitus Bering
Vitus Bering was a Danish explorer born in 1681, known for his significant contributions to the exploration of the North Pacific region. He served in the Russian Navy and led two major expeditions between 1725 and 1741, aiming to map the coastlines of Siberia and Alaska.
Bering's most notable voyage was the second one, during which he discovered the Bering Strait and the Aleutian Islands. His explorations provided valuable information about the geography and resources of the area, paving the way for future exploration and settlement by Russia and other nations.
