Visual Neglect
Visual neglect, also known as unilateral neglect, is a condition often resulting from brain damage, particularly in the right hemisphere. Individuals with visual neglect may fail to notice or respond to stimuli on one side of their visual field, typically the left side. This can affect their ability to read, eat, or engage with their environment fully.
The condition is commonly observed in patients who have experienced a stroke or traumatic brain injury. Treatment may involve rehabilitation strategies that help patients become more aware of their neglected side, improving their overall functioning and quality of life.
