Virginia General Assembly
The Virginia General Assembly is the legislative body of the Commonwealth of Virginia. It is a bicameral institution, meaning it has two chambers: the Virginia House of Delegates and the Virginia Senate. Together, these chambers are responsible for creating laws, approving the state budget, and addressing various issues affecting Virginia residents.
The General Assembly meets annually in Richmond, the state capital, typically starting in January. Each session lasts for a limited time, with the regular session lasting 60 days in odd-numbered years and 30 days in even-numbered years. Members of the General Assembly are elected by the citizens of Virginia.
