Virginia Circuit Courts
Virginia Circuit Courts are the trial courts of general jurisdiction in the state of Virginia. They handle a wide range of cases, including civil disputes, criminal cases, and family law matters. Each of the 31 circuits in Virginia has its own Circuit Court, which is presided over by a judge.
These courts also have the authority to hear appeals from General District Courts and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Courts. Circuit Courts play a crucial role in the judicial system, ensuring that legal matters are resolved fairly and justly within their respective jurisdictions.
