Vir Chakra
The Vir Chakra is a military decoration awarded by the Government of India for acts of gallantry in the face of the enemy. Established on January 26, 1943, it is the third-highest wartime honor in the Indian Armed Forces, following the Param Vir Chakra and the Maha Vir Chakra. The medal is awarded to both officers and soldiers for their bravery during combat operations.
The design of the Vir Chakra features a circular shape with a five-pointed star in the center, surrounded by a laurel wreath. Recipients of this honor are recognized for their exceptional courage and dedication, contributing significantly to the defense of the nation during conflicts, including wars with neighboring countries like Pakistan and China.
