Vilmos Zsolnay
Vilmos Zsolnay was a Hungarian ceramic artist and entrepreneur, born in 1828. He founded the Zsolnay Porcelain Manufactory in Pécs, Hungary, in 1853. Zsolnay is best known for his innovative techniques in ceramics, particularly the development of the eosin glaze, which produced vibrant colors and a unique iridescent finish.
Under his leadership, the factory gained international recognition, participating in various exhibitions and winning numerous awards. The Zsolnay brand became synonymous with high-quality porcelain and artistic design, contributing significantly to Hungary's cultural heritage. Today, the factory continues to operate, producing ceramics that reflect Zsolnay's legacy.
