Villehardouin
Geoffroi de Villehardouin was a French knight and chronicler known for his role in the Fourth Crusade. Born around 1150, he became a prominent figure in the military campaigns aimed at reclaiming the Holy Land. Villehardouin's firsthand experiences during the crusade led him to document the events in his work, "The Conquest of Constantinople."
His writings provide valuable insights into the motivations and actions of the crusaders, as well as the political landscape of the time. Villehardouin's narrative is one of the earliest examples of historical writing in the French language, making it significant for both history and literature.
