Vikramshila
Vikramshila was an ancient Buddhist university located in present-day Bihar, India. Founded in the 8th century by the Indian king Dharmapala, it became one of the most important centers for learning in the region. The university specialized in various subjects, including Buddhist philosophy, logic, and grammar, attracting students and scholars from across Asia.
The campus of Vikramshila featured numerous monasteries and temples, showcasing exquisite architecture. It was known for its rigorous academic environment and the promotion of Mahayana Buddhism. The university thrived until the 12th century when it faced decline due to invasions, ultimately leading to its abandonment.
