Verner E. Suomi
Verner E. Suomi was an American meteorologist known for his pioneering work in satellite meteorology. Born on December 3, 1915, he played a crucial role in developing the first successful weather satellites, which transformed how meteorologists observe and predict weather patterns. His contributions significantly advanced the field of atmospheric science.
Suomi was also a professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and co-founded the Space Science and Engineering Center. His innovative techniques and research laid the groundwork for modern weather forecasting, making it possible to monitor global weather systems from space. Suomi passed away on June 18, 1995.
