Venturi
A Venturi is a device that uses the principle of fluid dynamics to measure the flow rate of liquids or gases. It consists of a tube that narrows in the middle, creating a drop in pressure as the fluid speeds up. This pressure difference can be used to calculate the flow rate, making Venturis useful in various applications, including water supply systems and industrial processes.
The concept of the Venturi effect is named after the Italian engineer Giovanni Battista Venturi, who studied fluid flow in the 18th century. Venturi tubes are commonly found in carburetors, where they help mix air and fuel, and in venturi meters, which are used for measuring flow in pipelines.
