Ventricle
A ventricle is a chamber in the heart responsible for pumping blood. The human heart has four chambers: two atria and two ventricles. The right ventricle receives deoxygenated blood from the right atrium and pumps it to the lungs for oxygenation, while the left ventricle receives oxygen-rich blood from the left atrium and pumps it to the rest of the body.
In addition to the heart, the term "ventricle" can also refer to fluid-filled cavities in the brain. These brain ventricles are involved in the production and circulation of cerebrospinal fluid, which cushions the brain and helps maintain its environment.
