Vector Management
Vector management refers to the strategies and practices used to control and reduce the populations of vectors, which are organisms that transmit pathogens and diseases to humans, animals, and plants. Common vectors include mosquitoes, ticks, and rodents. Effective vector management aims to minimize the risk of disease transmission through various methods, such as habitat modification, biological control, and the use of insecticides.
In addition to controlling vector populations, vector management also involves public education and community engagement. This includes informing people about preventive measures, such as using insect repellent, maintaining clean environments, and eliminating standing water where vectors breed. By combining these approaches, vector management helps protect public health and reduce the incidence of vector-borne diseases.
