Vardhana dynasty
The Vardhana dynasty was an ancient Indian dynasty that ruled in the region of present-day Haryana and Punjab during the 6th and 7th centuries CE. Founded by Harshavardhana, the dynasty is known for its significant contributions to culture, religion, and politics. Harshavardhana expanded the empire and promoted Buddhism, establishing a flourishing center of learning and art.
The dynasty reached its peak under Harshavardhana, who was a patron of the arts and literature. He organized the famous Kanyakubja assembly, attracting scholars and monks from various regions. The decline of the Vardhana dynasty began after Harsha's death in 647 CE, leading to fragmentation and the rise of regional powers.
