Valerie Solanas
Valerie Solanas was an American feminist writer and activist, best known for her 1967 manifesto titled SCUM Manifesto. In this work, she expressed radical views on gender and society, advocating for the overthrow of male-dominated systems. Solanas's ideas sparked significant discussion and controversy within feminist circles and beyond.
In addition to her writing, Solanas is known for her association with the artist Andy Warhol. In 1968, she shot Warhol, believing he had betrayed her by not producing her play, Up Your Ass. This incident brought her further into the public eye and highlighted the tensions between art, gender, and power during that era.
