VISTA
VISTA, or Volunteers in Service to America, is a national service program that aims to alleviate poverty in the United States. Established in 1965, it recruits individuals to work full-time in various community organizations, focusing on capacity building and sustainable solutions. VISTA members often engage in activities such as developing programs, fundraising, and increasing community resources.
Participants in VISTA commit to a year of service, receiving a living allowance, health benefits, and education awards. The program is part of the larger AmeriCorps network, which includes other service initiatives aimed at improving communities and fostering civic engagement across the country.
