V2 Rocket
The V2 Rocket was a pioneering ballistic missile developed by Germany during World War II. Designed by engineer Wernher von Braun, it was the world's first long-range guided missile, capable of reaching altitudes of over 180 kilometers and traveling at speeds exceeding 5,700 kilometers per hour. The V2 was used to target cities, causing significant destruction and loss of life.
The V2's technology laid the groundwork for future space exploration and missile development. After the war, many of its engineers, including von Braun, were brought to the United States as part of Operation Paperclip, contributing to the Apollo program and the advancement of rocket science.
