Věra Chytilová
Věra Chytilová was a prominent Czech film director and screenwriter, known for her innovative and avant-garde approach to cinema. Born on February 2, 1929, in Ostrava, she became a key figure in the Czechoslovak New Wave movement during the 1960s. Her most famous film, Daisies (1966), is celebrated for its bold visual style and feminist themes.
Chytilová's work often challenged societal norms and explored complex issues such as gender and identity. Throughout her career, she directed numerous films, earning both national and international recognition. She continued to influence filmmakers until her passing on March 12, 2022.
