Uzbek Soviet
The term "Uzbek Soviet" refers to the period when the region of Uzbekistan was part of the Soviet Union, from 1924 until its independence in 1991. During this time, Uzbekistan was established as a Soviet republic, known as the Uzbek Soviet Socialist Republic. The government implemented policies aimed at industrialization and collectivization, significantly impacting the economy and society.
Culturally, the Uzbek Soviet era saw the promotion of Russian language and culture, while also attempting to preserve Uzbek traditions. Education and literacy rates improved, but political repression and censorship were common. The legacy of this period continues to influence Uzbekistan's development today.
