Urocyon
Urocyon is a genus of small canids, commonly known as the gray fox and the island fox. These animals are native to North America and are characterized by their slender bodies, bushy tails, and distinctive facial markings. Gray foxes are unique among canids because they can climb trees, which helps them escape predators and find food.
The gray fox typically inhabits forests, grasslands, and urban areas, while the island fox is found only on six of the Channel Islands in California. Both species are omnivorous, feeding on fruits, insects, and small mammals. Their adaptability to various environments contributes to their survival in changing habitats.
