Uri attack
The Uri attack refers to a terrorist incident that occurred on September 18, 2016, in the Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir, India. Four heavily armed militants from the Pakistan-based group Jaish-e-Mohammed infiltrated an Indian Army base, resulting in the deaths of 19 soldiers. The attack was one of the deadliest against Indian security forces in recent years.
In response to the Uri attack, the Indian government conducted surgical strikes across the Line of Control to target militant launch pads in Pakistan-administered Kashmir. This marked a significant escalation in India's military response to cross-border terrorism and heightened tensions between India and Pakistan.
