Uri Attack
The Uri Attack refers to a terrorist assault that occurred on September 18, 2016, at an Indian Army base in Uri, located in the Jammu and Kashmir region. Four heavily armed militants from the terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed infiltrated the base, resulting in the deaths of 19 Indian soldiers and injuries to many others. This attack was one of the deadliest against Indian security forces in recent years.
In response to the Uri Attack, the Indian government conducted surgical strikes across the Line of Control to target terrorist launch pads in Pakistan-administered Kashmir. This marked a significant shift in India's military strategy, emphasizing a more proactive approach to counter-terrorism. The incident heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, leading to increased military readiness in the region.
