Upazila
An Upazila is an administrative region in Bangladesh, serving as a subunit of a district. Each Upazila is responsible for local governance and development, facilitating services such as education, health, and infrastructure. The term is derived from the Bengali language, where "upa" means "sub" and "zila" means "district."
Upazilas are further divided into unions, which are the smallest rural administrative units. Each Upazila typically consists of several unions, allowing for effective local administration. This structure helps in implementing government policies and programs at the grassroots level, ensuring that resources reach the communities that need them most.
