United States Pharmacopeia
The United States Pharmacopeia (USP) is a scientific organization that sets standards for the quality, purity, strength, and consistency of medicines, food ingredients, and dietary supplements in the United States. Established in 1820, it provides a reliable source of information to ensure that products are safe and effective for public use.
USP develops and publishes the USP-NF (United States Pharmacopeia and National Formulary), which contains monographs and standards for thousands of substances. These standards are used by manufacturers, regulators, and healthcare professionals to ensure compliance with safety and quality requirements, ultimately protecting public health.
