United Nations Command
The United Nations Command (UNC) is a multinational military organization established in 1950 during the Korean War. Its primary purpose is to support the defense of South Korea and maintain peace and security in the region. The UNC operates under the authority of the United Nations and consists of forces from various member countries.
After the Korean War armistice in 1953, the UNC continued to exist to oversee the ceasefire and facilitate diplomatic efforts. It plays a crucial role in coordinating military activities and ensuring compliance with the armistice agreement, contributing to stability on the Korean Peninsula.
