Unique Identification Authority of India
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is an agency of the Government of India responsible for implementing the Aadhaar project. Established in 2009, its primary goal is to provide a unique identification number to residents of India, which helps in streamlining various services and benefits.
Aadhaar is a 12-digit unique number linked to an individual's biometric and demographic data. This system aims to enhance transparency and efficiency in service delivery, making it easier for citizens to access government services and benefits while reducing fraud and duplication in identity verification.
