Underwater Demolition Teams
Underwater Demolition Teams (UDTs) were elite military units formed during World War II, primarily tasked with reconnaissance and demolition missions. They specialized in underwater operations, often clearing obstacles for amphibious assaults. UDTs played a crucial role in major battles, ensuring safe passage for larger forces.
After the war, UDTs evolved into what we now know as the Navy SEALs. These highly trained operatives conduct a variety of missions, including counter-terrorism and special reconnaissance. Their skills in underwater demolition and combat remain vital for modern military operations, showcasing the legacy of the original UDTs in today’s armed forces.
