Under (Subordinate)
The term "under" refers to a position or status that is lower in rank, importance, or hierarchy. In organizational structures, an employee may be considered "under" a manager, meaning they report to that manager and follow their directives. This relationship often implies a level of authority and responsibility, where the manager oversees the work of the subordinate.
In various contexts, "under" can also describe physical positioning, such as an object located beneath another. For example, a book placed under a stack of papers is physically lower than the papers. This spatial relationship can apply to many scenarios, including items in a room or layers in a geological formation.
