Umbrian language
The Umbrian language is an ancient Italic language that was spoken in the region of Umbria in central Italy. It is part of the Osco-Umbrian group of languages, which also includes Oscan. The language is primarily known from inscriptions and texts dating back to the 3rd century BCE, providing valuable insights into the culture and society of the Umbrian people.
Umbrian is closely related to Latin and shares similarities with other Italic languages. The most significant source of Umbrian texts is the Igino's Tablets, which contain religious and legal inscriptions. Although it is no longer spoken, Umbrian contributes to the understanding of the linguistic landscape of ancient Italy.
