Uganda Protectorate
The Uganda Protectorate was a British colonial territory established in 1894 in East Africa. It encompassed the area that is now modern-day Uganda. The protectorate was created to secure British interests in the region, particularly in trade and agriculture, and to counteract the influence of other European powers.
Under British rule, the Uganda Protectorate saw significant changes, including the introduction of new agricultural practices and infrastructure development. The British administration also implemented a system of indirect rule, which involved governing through local leaders. The protectorate lasted until Uganda gained independence in 1962.
