USS S-36
The USS S-36 was a United States Navy submarine, part of the S-class fleet, commissioned in 1919. Designed for coastal defense, it was equipped with torpedoes and had a displacement of about 1,000 tons when submerged. The submarine was primarily used for training and patrolling during its service.
In 1942, the USS S-36 ran aground in the Aleutian Islands while on a mission. Despite efforts to salvage the vessel, it was ultimately abandoned and later declared lost. The submarine's legacy remains as a part of the early 20th-century naval history of the United States.
