USS Patuxent (AV-4)
The USS Patuxent (AV-4) was a seaplane tender of the United States Navy, launched on 15 December 1943. She was designed to support naval aviation by providing maintenance and supplies for seaplanes. The ship was named after the Patuxent River in Maryland and served primarily during World War II.
Commissioned on 15 June 1944, the USS Patuxent played a vital role in various operations, including the Pacific Theater. After the war, she continued to serve in the Navy until her decommissioning in 1970. The ship was ultimately sold for scrap in 1971, marking the end of her service.
