USS New Orleans (CL-22)
The USS New Orleans (CL-22) was a Cleveland-class light cruiser of the United States Navy, launched on February 14, 1941. She played a significant role during World War II, participating in major battles in the Pacific Theater, including the Battle of Guadalcanal and the Battle of the Philippine Sea. The ship was known for her speed and firepower, equipped with multiple 6-inch guns and anti-aircraft weaponry.
After the war, the USS New Orleans was decommissioned in 1947 and later sold for scrap in 1970. She was named after the city of New Orleans, Louisiana, reflecting the tradition of naming ships after American cities.
