USS McCoy (DE-1038) History
The USS McCoy (DE-1038) was a Buckley-class destroyer escort of the United States Navy, commissioned on 15 December 1956. Named after Lieutenant Commander William McCoy, the ship served primarily in the Atlantic and Mediterranean regions during the Cold War, conducting various missions including anti-submarine warfare and escort duties.
Throughout her service, the USS McCoy participated in numerous naval exercises and operations, contributing to maritime security. She was decommissioned on 1 July 1983 and later struck from the Naval Vessel Register. The ship's legacy remains as a part of the U.S. Navy's efforts during a pivotal era in naval history.
