USS Juneau (CL-119)
The USS Juneau (CL-119) was a light cruiser of the United States Navy, launched on 1 December 1943. It was named after the city of Juneau, Alaska and was part of the Cleveland-class of cruisers. The ship was designed for anti-aircraft warfare and played a significant role in World War II, providing support for naval operations in the Pacific Theater.
Commissioned on 15 February 1945, the USS Juneau served in various capacities, including escorting aircraft carriers and participating in naval bombardments. After the war, the ship was decommissioned in 1947 and later sold for scrap in 1970.
