USS Belleau Wood (LHA-3)
The USS Belleau Wood (LHA-3) was an amphibious assault ship of the United States Navy, commissioned in 1970. Named after the World War I battle of Belleau Wood, it was designed to support Marine Corps operations by transporting and landing troops, equipment, and supplies.
The ship was equipped with a flight deck for helicopters and vertical takeoff aircraft, allowing for versatile air support. USS Belleau Wood served in various operations, including humanitarian missions and combat deployments, before being decommissioned in 2005 and later scrapped.
