USS Alstede (AK-109) History
The USS Alstede (AK-109) was a cargo ship of the United States Navy, launched on 15 March 1944. It was named after the town of Alstede in New Jersey and was part of the Kappa-class cargo ships. The vessel was commissioned on 12 May 1944 and served primarily during World War II, transporting supplies and equipment to support military operations.
After the war, the USS Alstede was decommissioned on 15 January 1946 and was later transferred to the Maritime Administration. The ship was ultimately sold for scrapping in 1971, concluding its service history.
